Not only that these units would have to be close to there consumption source because there is loss of current during transmission over those power lines. The average loss can be explained in this way. It takes 2,000 watts at the factory to light up a 20 w bulb in your home.

You have to have alot of land too. The other thing is do you invest in cows, sheep, crops, or wind. What is the best rate of return, as you say. I had heard a big interviews with a guy in Montana on this.
The thing about wind in Europe is they have great deal of Gov investment to do this. That is good or bad depending on what you do. I personally have a great deal of problems with the problem that the Department of the Interior has allowed mineral rights to be abused, I see that pouing over into the Gov trying to do this with wind farms if not used careful enough.
