Isn't it all relative?

Exactly how well would kids be educated if we left it up to the parents? How much education would be sacrificed if people had to do it themselves or pay for private schools out of pocket?

Furthermore, the standards keep getting tougher and tougher. Kindergarten used to be a place to learn some colors, some letters, a few numbers, and mainly how to socialize.

Now, we're expecting to do all that in Pre-K, and hey, maybe we can squeeze it in when they're three.

I expect in ten years, we'll be giving out the New York State curriculum standards to new parents as the child exits the womb. "Make sure they have this by the first year."
