Ok, so we're presuming a lot here:
1) We assume that if Americans eat less, farmers will still grow/raise the same amount of food for no reason at all.
2) Either those same farmers will just give away their excess each year, without adjusting their supply to match demand, or;
3) The Government (i.e. the taxpayer - the same people who are trying to SAVE money by eating less) will pay for the excess
4) The excess somehow rightfully belongs to India, since Americans aren't eating it anymore.
How ridiculously selfish, stupid, and naive! That's the same as me telling my neighbor to burn less gas, but keep paying for the same amount, then give the excess to me because I can't afford gas prices.
How old was this "Mehta" kid? Six? Seven?
Hell, even MY six year-olds wouldn't fall for that scam...as soon as I taught them eat less candy, they'd figure out something ELSE to spend their allowance on, but they sure as hell wouldn't keep buying extra candy to give to someone else just because they said so.
I say we turn the blame around...if those damned inconsiderate skeletons over there in India would eat more American junk-food, our profits would go up and we could afford to finance their puffy bellies! Makes just as much non-sense as Mehta makes...
