What is in the middle is the question, as per the Hegelian Dialectic that is the goal of the opposing sides. They just make us think we are compromising when the middle was the initial goal I think.

I currently believe that when two sides disagree in public (like Repubs and Dems) it is a facade that not only distracts the masses but both parties are in cahoots behind the curtain to keep themselves in power at all costs. I know I might have done the same thing if I was immoral and already in power.

Collectivism has benefits if the people have the choice to belong or leave at will, which is a plus for them and Fascism is not too bad if those in charge truly keep the well being of the subjects as their goal. But since humans in general make constant mistakes, there are few systems that are infallible. It is not like I have the answer yet to be sure- I just give my armchair opinion.
