The Republicans are cowards, first and foremost. They fear that they will be tarred and feathered the way Tom Tancredo was. (The fact that it was Republicans tarring Tom doesn't seem to sink in to them) The other side is that many Republicans were thwarting the law to keep the influx of cheap labor flowing to their business supporter.
Republicans are marginally better than democrats, but Republicans are still crooks and liars for sale to the highest bidder.
McCain is one of the worst, joining with Teddy (it's unfair to get a brain tumor when I don't have a brain) Kennedy to sponsor last year's amnesty plan.
