That's where you're wrong.
Most people who kill for money are cornered in one way or another. It's desperation, and humans can do a lot of things that they would never do otherwise if they're just desperate enough. If someone kills another human to steal their wallet, it's not out of hatred of that person, but because they're very, very desperate for money. Many hate themselves for it and regret doing such things.
Then there's hate crimes. Murders in this case. If you just randomly kill someone because they have a characteristic you don't like, it's not desperation. You're not cornered in life. You're just a twisted, unstable person.
I'm not saying that killing someone to steal their money is excusable. It's most definitely not. I'm just saying that killing when there's absolutely nothing in it for you beyond the unjustified hatred of the person you kill is
even worse.
