"Gummer & CottonB" you guys are right: what you say will not float well with some, but you are still right. This nation is in a terrible bind: somewhere many people learned to listen to the things that just did not make sense, like "just say no to sex." This does not work so well with adolescents, much less with "undisciplined" adolescents.

We seem to focus a lot on " freedoms & rights", and not very much on "obligations & responsibilities." Of course China does not have the unreasonable concept that "people are free to do what they want": but I still wonder how they managed to bring their excessive birth rate under control in 2 decades. If they did this, then we should be able to do this.

I realize that there would be many religious leaders & minority leaders that would "holler foul": unfortunately the vast Conservative Christian right would also "holler foul", but I think this should say more about them then about the seriousness of the problem. I we don't manage to get the birth rate down & under some reasonable control then we will die from population over load, or just plain old thirst. ...pjwky
