If it is all the the evil Republican oil companies, then why wouldn't they lower prices in an election year? Especially since the Republican "brand" is so bad right now? If it is the US oil companies, why was Bush in the Middle East, "hat in hand", begging the Saudi's to produce more? Which they basically told him to fuck off. OPEC, China, Russia and all the oil producing countries own us, because of our own stupidity. In the old days, when OPEC started raising prices, whomever was President went to them, and told them we were about to start drilling, turning coal into fuel, nuclear, etc. OPEC would always immediately drop their prices. Now, they just laugh at us, they know the "Green" movement has taken over our country. They can charge what they want, and tell us to fuck off.
