When people who brag about being tolerant are being intolerant I will call bullshit on them, just as in this case. I will say they need to learn to be more tolerant to opinions they do not like.
The Duke professors should never have done what they did. They rushed to judge the young men guilty because they were well to do and white while the 'victim' was poor and black. To make it worse one of the men used the 'n' word so they just HAD to be guilty. I used the Duke case to show my contempt for the staff at universities. They tend to be a bunch of liberals who want to shut up all opinions that differ from theirs.

no osama won't have supporters. and they could easily choose someone either apolitical or non-controversal. at the very least someone who doesn't draw in thousand of people who protest. most other schools who do this have it go off without a hitch or protest. obviously its possible to choose someone who doesn't cause strife.
I'm not saying everyone will agree. were they to choose a sport's writer and I was there, I'd want someone else because I'm not into sports. but I wouldn't protest. I'm just be polite as I hear his speech and try not to look too bored.
disagreeing and feeling the need to protest are two different things.
and most people are tolerant of listening, not honoring.
universities come in all different forms liberla and conservative. Duke isn't all that liberal. frankly there was a lot of evidence against them and with the way campus rape is treated (or ignored) its nice that they felt the need to stand up and condemn it. sadly they were condemning something that never happened, but they had good intentions.
