Default How to Ignore Someone

This post is a how-to for if you decide that you want to ignore all posts by a certain member. Many forums solve conflicts between members by banning one or the other, and having a policy of near-absolute free speech means that there will inevitably be people who dislike each other or find each others posts extremely offensive or annoying for whatever reason.

If you have gotten to that point with a particular person, the forum has an option for you to choose to ignore their posts. This can be done by visiting that person's member profile. You can get there in two ways - either click on their name in a forum post, and then click View Public Profile; or you can click the Members List button at the top and then find their name by clicking on the letter it starts with.

Once you're at his profile, click on User Lists, and then Add to Ignore List. You will not see posts by that person anymore.

This is an imperfect solution, as other people will continue to make posts in response to them and many people will still want to debate with them and respond to them - basically, people may make reference to posts that you no longer see. However, you will not have to read what they post if you don't want to.

I think this policy best conforms to free speech because everyone is free to speak, and everyone is free not to listen if they so choose.
