We're in a slump? Are you kidding? This is the golden age of philosophy, the hands down smartest philosophers in the tradition have been teaching the last 50 years. Donald Davidson, Richard Rorty, Derrida, none of these people ring a bell to you??? Kant and Hegel? I mean yeah, they're integral to the traditional cannon, I can't argue that, but there have been a lot smarter people since these guys. Modern philosophers have exceptionally brilliant critiques on ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology which make them seem antiquated and irrelavent and have instead replaced them with philosophy of language and philosophy of mind. All other types of philosophy are as ridiculous as the movie the Matrix, ooooh what if uhm evil geniuses controlled our brain. Categorical imperatives? My ass, Kant you nazi!
