For me personally, I would like the car too:
Be able to maintain highway speeds for 300-400 miles between charges.
Relatively quick charge times...30-60 minutes? Enough time to eat and stretch a few minutes but not more than an hour.
Be comfortable to drive...AC, all that crap.
Priced affordably for the general public.

10 years?.... a more relevant question might include.....how long before we could recharge the batteries in such an automotive master piece ..... without foreign oil? Simply changing the propulsion technology of the automobile without an "in house" means of generating the electricity to recharge the batteries and fill the other needs for electric power ..... would be .....no solution at all. From my point of view we need to leave no stone unturned in the quest for a lasting solution to our energy requirements. Conservation (effiency), solar, wind and nuclear are the likely long term answers. Meanwhile ..... using our coal and all of the oil we can locate and produce can ease the burden of transition.

Political Correctness defined :
A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
