My oldest son is a high school history teacher and this will be his last year. he is hanging up his hat after 5 years and going out to find a job that pays real money.

I can tell you that each summer my son has spent a good deal of time in continuing education classes and that he is at school early and stays till after dinner most nights to prepare and grade papers.

he is making about 43K a year and that is not enough for all the education he has and the long hours he puts in.

He already has a offer working for a corporation as a human resources trainer at 6K more a year and is feeling around to see if he can do better .

We get what we pay for in the teaching profession and it appears we are not willing to pay much.
