Well, Democrats are clearly simply, as Obama put it, depending on the intellectual prowness of Reagan supporters. It is the man who, working for Reagan on his economic policies, coined the term Reaganomics.

So, the father of Reaganomics is the one who declared the US to be in recession for the entire 21st century.

But then again, you might say he has an axe to grind, because he wants to preserve the Reagan economic legacy, something that the Gringrich revolution and the Bush Republicans are basically demolishing and destroying.

Of course, he is hardly alone. Another conservative Republican and Reagan backer, Kevin Philips, has been condemning the corrupt conservative Republican economic policies for years.

My guess is that if the Reagan of 1970 were reincarnated today, he would run against McCain and Bush.
