Gore's actual quote simply stated "The year before, the strongest cyclone in more than 50 years hit China – and we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.”

Uh, yeah, I know the quote. He said we ARE seeing the consequences of what scientists have long predicted might be associated with global warming.
In other words (actually the same words), scientists have long predicted that strong storms might be associated with continued global warming and we are seeing the consequences of that. Same thing.
The implication is pretty clear. Do you honestly not think that Gore was trying to convey that very message?
He was trying to raise awareness/fear level for his agenda via this storm.
Either way, it doesn't matter,
anyone who saw or heard Al Gore's quote knows what he meant.
