You still put yourself before others. You don't help people because you believe they deserve it, or care about them. You base your morality off of your own concience, which is flawed to the greatest degree.

Hitler share your views on morality as well.
I put my life before other people's lives in hypotheticals, but is doesn't mean I have no humanitarian interests. I'm a huge supporter of amnesty international. Don't confuse my private self with my public self, I don't.
And I don't think Hitler and I have the same morality, that fool is a mass murderer, I'm just a shit talkin son of a gun.

Some good places to start are, FeedthePoor.org the Salvation Army and AidforAfrica.org,...
I can call some people if you are really interetsed.

I am sure, that no matter where you live, there is somekind of volunteering program that could use you. My husband, children, and I volunteer all the time. I want my kids to know this world isn't just about them. Selfish people seem to be everywhere, it's the givers that seem to be rare these days.

I loved the peace corps. I learned a lot about people, culture and survival. Everyday that I live now is a blessing. I learned never to take anything for granted. It makes you a tougher person, emotionally and physically. And all while doing something good for others. Good luck.
And whats up with these programs. I don't want to be stuck teaching english to some kids in a classroom. I'd rather help them build their homes, something more to do with my expertise.
So this fat roommate girl friend is now doing...shit whats it called... America Corps or something. I guess the idea being that people in the deep south can't even wipe their own ass. I'd ideally like to go to South America, master Spanish while I'm out and about. But you're saying some of those places you listed take place only during summers? they aren't two year stints?
