Well ... not to burst your bubble, but a report from the National Center for Policy Analysis shows that the tax burden has been increasing on the evil rich faster than their incomes have been going up.
Here's a quickie look at the figures since 1986. - The share of the income tax paid by the top 1 percent of income earners went from 25.8 percent to over 37 percent.
- The percentage their total income that the top 1 percent of income earners paid from their income to the federal government rose from 18.3 percent to 19.6 percent. The percentage paid by the bottom fifth of income earners went from 0.4 percent to zero percent.
- The income share of the top 1 percent rose from 11.3 percent to 19 percent while their share of income taxes rose from 26 to 37 percent. That's a 7.7 percent increase in income and a 11 percent increase in income taxes.
Clearly these evil rich people are getting away with murder. We need to really raise their taxes, don't we?

Let me help you ou here Robh
First off, the “Evil Rich people” crap is pretty much a lame straw man, so please spare us the accusations of a class war, when in fact bit is YOUR ilk that has been waging one for 40 years now
I for one, am a Liberal who is well on her way to being one of those “Rich people’ and in fact, my personal assets already exceed a million dollars I am proud to be in the upper end of the 28% bracket, and hope to be in the 30%s soon
The other thing you seem to overlook, is that you party, has NOT BEEN the “party of the rich” for decades.
In fact, quite the contrary.
167 House of Representatives districts where the median income is higher than the median national income, you find that Democrats have been elected more often then Republicans
Why ?
Upper income voters also tend to be better educated.
Upper income voters are more likely to be plugged into beter news sources, and less likely to watch Fox News, and listen to talk radio
The districts where Democrats made the biggest gains in 2006 were suburban districts -- places that need government and government services, and places that are not as responsive to the Republican conservative message that government is evil and needs to be starved
The Republican base is in fact, the American working poor
The fact that those who will be in a position to PAY more taxes, know we need to move the rates back to pre 2000 rates speaks volumes…don’t you think ?
