Again, affirmative action does not prevent discrimination. If anything, it furthers it. It teaches minorities that you don’t have to work hard because there are programs in place designed to circumvent actual ability and competence. This viewpoint is then recycled through future generations teaching them nothing less than to depend on a system to get you through, instead of taking action yourself. Immigrants come to the U.S. from all over, have different accents, look different, and those who bust their ass, make something of themselves. But minorities already in the U.S., especially those born here, don’t want to put in the effort and rely on others to get them by. It’s not the “white man” keeping them down, it’s themselves because they are not willing to put in the effort necessary to succeed. It’s always easier blaming others for one’s position in life. Instead it would be more productive for them to realistically assess themselves and why they are in their situation, as well as how to fix it.
