C02 is a dangerous material. It is a solid at -60 Deg. F and when it goes to a gas it expands and becomes explosive, if contained. I would assume that it need to be contained to be useful. It is also dangerous to handle without gloves. In an accident, if the C02 tank ruptured it would explode, but not, in itself, burn.
These small vehicles probably have poor crash resistance as a result of minimized weight.
