Things that have substance are reality and "creating your own reality" can not change things that have reality. A situation, or sequence of events for example is certainly subject to interpretation and your interpretation may very well be the only thing you know about that situation or sequence of events.
For example, consider a hit and run, a drive by shooting, an assault or any other such event. If you have 20 witnesses to such a thing, you may well have 20 different stories about what exactly happened. If, however, you have video and audio recordings from all possible angles of the event, you will have a record of the reality of the event. Compare that record of the event to the stories you get and you will see whose reality closely relates to the universe as it actually is (for that event) and whose reality does not.
