[quote=Bonzo'sCostar;380865]I think it is mighty white of righties to talk about how people should be treated, based on merit and not on the color of their skin. Outrage over discrimination finally happening, when a few white people become victims. I am not a “righty”. Discrimination is not okay on all accounts.

Righties like to act like racial prejudice is something from the past, with little in existence today. The playing field has been leveled, "I didn't own any slaves," and black people need to "get over it."

Racial prejudice would be in the past, if people stopped making it a current issue. Instead of working hard, they think blaming others and making excuses for their misfortunes is going to fix their situation. People need to start taking responsibility for their own choices, decisions and actions instead of playing the unfortunate victim card all the time.

There are no more slaves. Moreover, those alive today were not apart of slavery on any side and therefore should not be blamed for it. This is ridiculous logic. You don’t see holocaust victims calling upon today’s Germans to pay reparations for what were TRUE injustices and atrocities, much worse than slaves ever incurred.

Those beliefs are wrong in themselves, but I wish to address an often ignored aspect of previous discrimination ... Imagine you are smart black man in the 1920s. We’re not talking about or living in the 1920s. That example is quite outdated, right up there with slavery. Black people in today’s society should have absolutely nothing to complain about. If you haven’t been paying attention to the news lately, there is a black man running for the highest office in the land, who also comes from a Harvard education. So if he can do it, why can’t others? Put the gun down and pick up a book. You worked hard to get a good education. Now, try to find a job that doesn't involve a mop. After a few years of this, do you go home and tell your children, "Study hard, work hard, and everything will be hunky-dory"? No, you don't. YES YOU DO! Thank you for making my point. If more black people stopped whining and complaining about their situation, and actually raised their children with the normal idea that you want their lives to be better and easier than yours. If one is a good parent, one should ALWAYS want their child to work hard and succeed in the future which will be the world they have to live in. Otherwise, future generations can't advance. People who don't want their kids to advance shouldn't even breed. Once black people stop the circle of "feel sorry for me", then perhaps you would see the reality that you do not have it as bad as you think. And they won't teach their children, and ... sanctimonious, white-bread, suburbanites will someday tell those grandchildren, "Get over it. Pull yourself up like I did."
