See, anti-war kooks like Crowley can't stand the fact that the U.S. and coalition forces are making progress toward a stable democracy in Iraq. Mind you, if the President were a Democrat, they'd be singing his/her praises from the mountaintops. Alas, the President is a Republican and even worse...he's George W. Bush, who they believe "stole" the election in 2000, (and many of them believe he stole it in 2004, too), so they literally hate the man. Nothing he does is right, in their opinion, even if it is the liberation of millions of people. Rest assured, the fact that the surge is working and that violence has decreased in Iraq just frustrates the hell out of anti-war kooks. They don't give a shit about American interests, they just want to see Bush humiliated, even if it means an American defeat. Their lack of patriotism is sickening, yet they dare call themselves Americans. They don't mind reaping the benefits of American freedom and prosperity, but when it comes to their kook candidates winning elections, EVERYTHING goes under the bus if necessary, including their allegiance to their nation.

So, when they're confronted with substantive patriotism, they spew horseshit like the quote above. Poor lil' kooks, they just don't know any better.
