Literally nobody holds the same regard for the court after that decision that they did before it. Everyone was wondering what the court would rule, how it would change law, but you know that Roberts told Baker to take the case, that it would be heard, and they would win. That is creepy. Souter nearly resigned, Kennedy went into a damn near depression afterwards. O'conner never even spoke of it after that.
