Nathan, very good post. Personally, I was raised around guns, learned to shoot and respect them at an early age. Our guns were never locked up, but we live in a VERY different world today. People are not taught respect, and there are very few consequences for our behavior. Perhaps if one of those consequences is that you might get shot for committing a crime, then perhaps people would start to think twice about their behavior.
Self-defense should not only be our right, but our obligation.
