The florida legislature which you claim had jurisdiction had already named Bush the state winner.
The judicial activism that you claim to denounce occured in the Florida supreme court which granted Gore and his legal team the right to keep recounting votes, and making up rules in the local democratically controlled precincts about how to count chads, until they hopefully got a result they wanted.
The US supreme court merely upheld the law of Florida, the Florida legislature, the rules in place prior to the election, the Florida secrety of state certifying that Bush won the state and prevented the judicial activism of the Florida supreme courts in their attempts to change election rules and steal the election.
