Why would Russia care what the CIS would do...and the answer is NOTHING. Like the Ukraine is actually going to do something, you apparently forget that their entire country's gas is supplied by Russia (seeing as how Russia turns it off once in a while). Belarus...they pretty much have a dictator in power, so I'm betting they would side with Russia. Who says it would be a conventional military altercation? Even if it was, the U.S. is currently spread all over the world, with barely any friends. Even if Russia is not ready at the moment, you're incredibly blind to think it won't be in the future.
