Republicans enjoy the cheap labor, while the democrats feel bad on a human rights front. Though I am an avid believer of human rights in this world, compared to genocide or political persecution, people entering the U.S. illegally do not face either from their home country (primarily from Mexico). What about the human rights violations used in the article about illegals who drive recklessly and harm lives? Also, with cheap labor comes cheap quality of products because Americans are not producing them. American jobs are taken elsewhere and replaced by others.
I have absolutely no sympathy for illegal immigrants. I am a legal Russian immigrant who came to the U.S. with my family 18 years ago. We fled the Soviet Union and came to the U.S. as refugees. I lived in Europe for half a year before we were even allowed to enter the U.S. We all endured difficulties in assimilating to the culture, but it is not impossible. Laws are set up for a reason and, yes, it may take some time for one to enter this country legally. Another example: we petitioned for my aunt and her family in the mid-90s and they only NOW have permission (they are coming this summer). For people to come here illegally is the greatest example of laziness, and is a complete slap in the face for those of us who faced real danger in leaving our home countries. We risked it all, yet still found a way not to break any laws. I love this country and everything it has to offer (except perhaps the current administration…but as an American citizen I have that right too ).

You are an example as to how and what immigrants should be. Thanks for becoming an American.
