I have a feeling it has to do with fuel to air because if I take it slow, I can exceed 3500 rpm, it's only when the passing gear kicks in that it cuts out. But If I am in park and rev the engine it does it at 3500 rpm.
I'm putting it back in the shop when I get some free time, Dizz, I'll mention the fuel pressure issue. Thanks

PROBABLY the fuel pump is getting weak, or the fuel pressure regulator, is not working correctly. Shouldn't be the injectors. They either work, or they don't.
When the tank gets 1/4, or lower, can you hear a whine noise from the tank area? That is a fuel pump going bad. If they do replace the pump make sure they also do the filter at the same time.
On a Ranger there is like 6 bolts holding the bed on. It is easier to remove these bolts, jack up the bed 16-20 inches, then gain access to the pump. Only other way is to drop the tank. Pain in the ass, and you loose most of your gas when they do it. Good luck.
