While a great solution is universal health care, a better solution is government funded research to get better and cheaper drugs available to the public.
So, I should give up my good healthcare coverage because someone else can't pay their own bills? I don't think so. Get a better job, go to school and get an education so you can get a better job. And don't give excuses, just do it. I pay for my healthcare - and it isn't cheap. How do you think I got here? By dependng on others to give it to me? Hardly. I work my ass off. I am a woman and I own my own business. Nobody gave me a damn thing. I have worked for eveything I have. I once ate beeny weenies and eggs for every meal, went to night/weekend school and studied. There is no reason why someone else can't do the same. Well, unless they are lazy.

While I believe the govenment serves somekind of purpose, I don't think they should be part of my healthcare decision. As I said before, they have screwed up everything, I don't want them deciding if I live or die. Remember the HMO nightmare of the 90's? We are talking a 1000 times worse if the government is involved. I don't need to be told where to go, or who to go to. And if I should show up at the wrong place - oops. Sorry. Dead. Not to mention the fact that it will only make it easier for them to dictate what type of research is conducted and how. The government has no place in my dr.s office.

As for drugs being expensive, I know. My mother had cancer a few years ago and she had to have chemo, her anti-nausea meds were expensive as hell. The DR gave her samples. Most dr.'s have whatever drugs you need in their med closet, if you ask. Also, many drug companies now offer assistance to people who qualify. Some people can get their meds for free.
So, am I willing to pay more because someone else can't pay their bills? NO.

Our economy is on the verge of a recession and the housing market is in a full blown depression. I don't even think we should have this topic up for discussion right now. Our government has decided to put everything on the "card" (also known as china) and the deficit be damnded. My kids are gonna have to pay that off. I don't feel like asking them to pay more, and you shouldn't either.
