They don't have the money themselves because our current monetary and fiscal policies give money to the people who can get it first, the wealthy.
Government funded research is bullshit. If a company can not compete and come up with new treatments they can file for bankruptcy. When Government funded anything becomes the norm they pass the higher costs on to the people who can not afford healthcare who are the same people who can not get free health care from the Government. THe middle Class.
Universal Healthcare will hurt the middle class, period. They won't be allowed to receive it, and the price of health care will rise as Government gets its firm grip of red tape and beauracracy around the industry.
You can say Universal all you like, the truth is not everyone will be covered or allowed the priviledge of these services. Everyone will damn sure be taxed for it.
