Default Science, technology, etc. discussion section?

Not sure if this is an appropriate comment for this section, but I had some thoughts about the book titled something like "your inner fish" that points to the evolutionary evidence in humans that can be traced from the fossil record and from DNA. I do know that there is a specific forum that discusses evolution, with a focus on discrediting creationism, but I was thinking of something lighter:
- is the book "your inner fish" stretching things for the public in order to sell books to the public, and to show a simple "truth" even if details have been simplified?
- why isn't science and engineering more popular, or is the lack of popularity a myth created by people seeking funding for their pet rocks?
- what is the difference between invention and innovation?
- how do the tech revolutions happen, stealing inventions and then suing the crap out of everyone as was done by Bell, the man and the corporation (that's another book I heard about today), or by "disruptive technologies" from my favorite business book, "the innovator's dilemma", or something else, like accident?
- who should fund science, corporations, government, or should it be done the old fashion way as part of the church which is able to guilt people into paying lots of money to the church so they have the luxury of hiring people who have lots of idle time to do science, like Newton, Galileo?
