Just as women can never have too many pairs of shoes, men can never have too many guns. The statement that you don't need an automatic weapon to go deer hunting is totally bogus and is used only to cloud the issue. The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting, it concerns self defense, both from within and outside of our borders. To those who say I am safer in my house without a gun then with one I can only ask "are you so imcompetent that you are afraid you are going to mistake your pistol for your telephone and shoot yourself in the head while calling out for a pizza?" The average response time for the police to get to your home is 15 minutes or more. In 15 minutes you can be raped, murdered and your body disected and scattered. No thank you, I would rather worry about defending my self in court then in making funeral arrangements for my family.

BTW, I personally believe the best home defense weapon is a pump action 12 guage shotgun. The sound of chambering a round is enough to drive most intruders off, if you do have to shoot the oddball who won't run its a lot easier to him him with a shotgun and you are less likely to penetrate walls and hit someone hiding in another room. As backup however, I also have a snubnosed 38 Special I keep loaded with hollowpoints.
