This session will start from the premise that multiculturalism's greatest danger "comes from educators who ostensibly support its goals, but whose work - cultural plunges, food fairs, etc. - reflects a compassionate conservative consciousness rather than social justice. This session focuses on preparing teachers, not for celebrating diversity, but for achieving justice in schools and society."
This is pure liberalism being fed to your teachers ... and then to your kids ... in the guise of education.
Remember .... Multiculturalism merely means that your child should be judged on the basis of his race, ethnicity, religion or some other group aspect, rather than his individual identity. Multiculturalism is the heart of the anti-individualist movement. These teachers are going to be taught to come back to your wonderful government school and convince your child that the only thing about him that matters is his group identity ... that he is not an individual, he's just a member of a group.
Ohhhhhh.. But YOUR government school is different, isn't it? YOUR government school is really doing a good job ... it's the rest of those schools that are so bad. Right?

Well Rob I'm sure the Multicultural Education convention wouldn't have ever been held in Downtown OKC @ the Ford Center! b/c the city and the State has no visonary concept of diversity b/c CONSERVATISM REIGNS SUPREME. Even though it would have brought in much needed revenue for such a Conservative cash poor city!!! with a 1960's skyline....but I digress.
Rob, diversity and multi-culturalism education (MCE) encompasses so much more than what was stated in your thread. It allows for children (even conservative children) to have an appreciation and understanding historically and culturally of the impact and importance from a global perspective different races-nationalities and cultures have.
Isn't it ironic that Republicans and Conservatives want to be able to be important players and leaders within the global diversified-multicultural world we live in, yet, are at best stubbornly ignorant of the very cultures conservatives wish to engage from a geo-political perspective!!!
Conservatism and conservatives are so busy CONSERVING that your ideology leaves very little room for growth and inclusiveness; let alone learning how to embrace different cultures around the world and even in our own nation.
Conservatives in general, do not even want their children to embrace and understand diversity and multiculturalism for fear of the great lie of your conservative ideaology will be exposed and realized amongst your own children!!!!! thus threatening the outdated failed philosopy, theory, and ideology that is conservatism.
I mean how do you keep the lie of conservatism alive in well.....if the future of conservatism (the children) have seen and embraced multiculturalism; and eventually question the non-inclusive outdated conservative thought and ways of life!!!!
I can see why conservatives in general do everything in their ever diminishing power, to smear, marginalize diversity and multicultural education!!! Conservatives FEAR----EXTINCTION!!!!!
