I watched a segment on the forest fires on 60 minutes on Sunday. They were saying that part of what is causing the fires to be so bad in Montana is that there is so much scrub vegation in the forests now. The fact that the forest service has been putting fires out for over 100 years has caused the under growth to be too thick now and if the fires had been allowed to burn then the under growth wouldn't be so thick now.
