I knew a woman who died of cancer a year or so after her husbands steel plant closed down and she lost her medical insurance .

Had a lump in her stomach and the doctors kept saying well its probably nothing and since you do not have insurance we'll just keep a eye on it.

About a year later her husband got another job with insurance and they finally did surgery and removed a tumor the size of a soft ball , she died of cancer soon after.
