That is what I would call geopolitical ignorance. The Iranian hostage crisis was precipitated by US manipulation of their internal affairs putting in a Shaw who was pretty police state Orwellian.
In desperation that scenario created an opposite extreme, the current Iranian Gov.
The covert policies of the United States under the CIA during the cold war created that dynamic.
Using that as a background justification is woefully politically ignorant.
