What Vick was involved in is atrocious and he should be punished. I'm not making any excuses for him.
If he does his time and "pays his debt to society", should the NFL ban him or should he be allowed to seek to resume his career?
My thinking is that there will surely be some NFL team that would gladly snatch him up. But at what cost in PR? Since NFL teams are in it for the money, would a team owner be willing to risk his profit for Vick or would the market dictate Vick not play?
I just think by banning him outright, the NFL opens itself up to many problems where allowing a teams fans to decide his fate might be better for all.
From a business perspective, the NFL would be stupid to take him back. It would be a marketing nightmare. Maybe they will take him back one day after he does his time and people forget about what he did. I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

Pete Rose made his bed. Now he can lie in it. Just like Vick.

If you go on game statistics only, how can you keep pete out?
With vick, you're talking about a young guy.
Honestly, the decision won't affect me one way or another, it was just something I was thinking about.
All people must face the consequences of their actions. Some face harsher consequences than others. Both Vick and Rose are grown adults and they should have realized that they could be kicked off their teams for their actions.

Part of me feels like that when Vick serves his time, he will have paid his debt to society and we should let him move on with his life with whatever he should decide to do. HOwever, there are always going to be people who point to his violent tendancies and with good reason.
