They won't outlaw it for one reason...money, as usual. I get a kick out of hearing how they are going to use cigarette taxes to fund healthcare issues and everybody says , "oh, good idea!" My question to them is always the same...What happens when people stop smoking? Think the govt is just going to change the budget? Or maybe they'll get it by taxing something else. Seems pretty simple to me but it eludes some people.
Like the $10 tax they are talking about putting on cigars now to help pay for the "chilruns'" medical care. What happens when the revenue from cigar smokers drops? Whos vice is gonna be taxed to make up the short-fall then?
I try to be a courteous smoker: never in the house or car...always use ashtrays and not the ground for the butt...I'm also careful to not even let my grand-kids SEE me smoking.
The whole idea of govt regulating smoking in private establishments is bull. Why couldn't a person open a bar/restaurant, whatever that clearly stated smoking was allowed...if smoke offends you, don't patronize that place. But, no...some weinie has to ruin it for everyone.
