An attack on US soil now will once again put terrorism as the driving force of the election and all polls have shown that the Republicans are considered to be the stronger party in protecting the country.
I actually think it's quite the opposite. If they attacked it would be to insure that they continue to have a good thing...Republicans in power to keep America in a small minded reactionary conflict. They know that if more level headed people from both parties gain control that those people will work more realistically with the world body to go after international criminals & they won't have a snow balls chance in hell of staying legitimized. As long as the current crop of reactionaries are in political office, playing off our fear, they know they have it made perpetual delusional existential conflict.

I'm amazed how blind people are to the simple truth. By using nation state military resources to go after fanatic nutjobs we legitimize them, make all our lives more unsafe by so doing & create perpetual conflict & fear.

If we worked more with international law & special forces enforcement keeping covert & minimizing their desperate need to be seen as legitimate while working on a global scale to deal with the complex underlying issues of economic disparity we would completely delegitimize them & eventually sweep these fanatics into the dustbin of history. They are like problem children desperate for attention & we reward them with the wrong kind of attention.
